Under the UK Global Tariff, most softwood plywood from Brazil (HS 4412.31) attracts 0% import duty at standard MFN rates. Solid sawn timber and MDF also generally carry 0% or low rates. There are no anti-dumping measures on Brazilian pine in the UK. Always verify the current tariff with your customs broker as rates can change.

What is the difference between UKTR and EUDR — and which applies to me?

If you are importing into Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales), the UK Timber Regulations (UKTR) apply — not the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). UKTR requires importers to exercise due diligence to ensure timber is legally harvested. Northern Ireland has a more complex position under the Windsor Framework. We provide UKTR-specific documentation. If you also sell into the EU, we can provide EUDR-aligned documentation separately.

Do UK retailers require FSC certification for Brazilian plywood?

Many major UK timber merchants, builders' merchants and DIY retailers require FSC certification as part of their responsible sourcing policies. We offer FSC Chain-of-Custody certified pine plywood on request. Where FSC is not required, UKTR-compliant due diligence documentation typically satisfies responsible sourcing requirements.

How long does transit take from Brazil to UK ports?

Accepted Answer

Felixstowe is typically 18–22 days from Santos or Paranaguá. Tilbury and London Gateway are 19–23 days, Southampton 20–24 days, and Bristol 21–25 days. These are estimates — vessel availability and routing affect actual transit. We share current ETD/ETA at the time of booking.

What is the difference between E1 and E0.5 formaldehyde emission classes?

E1 (≤0.1 ppm or ≤0.124 mg/m³ under EN 717-1) is the standard class accepted across the UK and EU for interior applications. E0.5 (≤0.065 mg/m³) is a stricter class increasingly demanded by premium furniture manufacturers and specifiers. We supply both — specify your requirement at enquiry stage.
